Here at I.S. 584, located in the heart of the South Bronx, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality academic experience for every student in grades 6-8. Our mission is to foster the development of literate, creative, and technologically competent learners through a rigorous, well-rounded educational program. We believe learning is at its best when it is relational, inquiry-based, data-driven, and promotes independent thinking.
A Supportive Community: Our three-year advisory program ensures every child is known well by an adult in the building, creating a strong sense of community and supportive peer relationships.
Student-Centered Empowerment: We value student voice and ownership. From student-led conferences to our annual Poetry Slam and Talent Show, we provide multiple platforms for students to build confidence and share their unique perspectives.
Rigorous & Engaging Academics: Our curriculum, featuring EL Education for ELA and Illustrative Math, is designed to challenge students’ critical thinking skills. We utilize dynamic teaching methods like project-based learning and Socratic seminars to engage every learner.
